"Weil ich tolle Kollegen habe, die in ihrer Karriere schon Vieles gesehen und gelernt haben, v.a. vom Leben fürs Leben─und fachlich natürlich auch. Das häufig zitierte Beratercredo „work hard play hard“ hat bei uns niemand nötig, ebenso sind die Ellenbogen wieder angelegt. Mich überzeugen unsere echten Teamplayer."

Prioritizing our people during the pandemic
Early on, the firm recognized the importance of managing the pandemic and formed a Business Continuity Team comprised of leadership representing various areas of the firm. The team is tasked with handling, addressing, and implementing all new policies and guidelines to ensure the safety of our clients and employees and adapt to changing conditions.
As a result, AlixPartners implemented new technologies to enable remote working, supported flexible working hours and has created additional paid-time-off allowance to help our people balance work and personal needs. We continue to survey our employees regularly, to gauge their needs and ensure they have the support they need now, and for whatever the "new normal" will look like.
As we shifted to remote working, we continued to recruit virtually, bringing in 100% of our summer intern cohort and taking dozens of candidates at all levels successfully through our hiring process from application to on-boarding.
Careers in finance and restructuring
"If you're somebody that likes a challenge, and you're the type of person that likes to get thrown into the deep end of the pool, and then swim every single time, I can regale you with cases of being thrown into a Fortune X company, with a project 10 months behind schedule, and they said, 'Yeah, guess what? It needs to be done in four months.' And you'd have to go and be able to deliver."
—Will Bundy, Managing Director, Private Equity practice
Your cultural heritage is valued here
"AlixPartners is a very selective firm in hiring, which is correct and appropriate. But I know for a fact that it scares a lot of Hispanics and Latinxs who have different backgrounds than is typically associated with careers in consulting. I say to candidates, 'I am Hispanic, of Latinx descent, and because of your cultural background, you’re bringing a completely different perspective and cultural experience that our clients love and we value as a firm.' I hope it helps candidates see that their background is an asset to them and our firm."

Wisdom and lessons learned through a successful career in restructuring
As the first woman recipient and the third leader from AlixPartners to win the prestigious Harvey Miller Award for Outstanding Service in the restructuring industry, Lisa Donahue, global co-chair of Turnaround & Restructuring Services at AlixPartners is interviewed by Tim Coleman, Global Chairman of PFT Partners during the 2020 Distressed Investing Conference.
In the interview, Lisa Donahue discusses her early career, the opportunities she grasped, and many learnings from being challenged by mentors, colleagues and many high profile, high impact client situations throughout her career.
Recommended for anyone who knows Lisa and the value she brings to her work, but also everyone who is interested in careers in restructuring and financial services.
"What differentiates the work at AlixPartners from the work I've done earlier in my career is that we employ a results-driven approach. We act as direct counterparts to the management and lead them through the implementation of the measures, always prioritizing our clients’ bottom line. In short: we take ownership of our solutions, and focus on impact—not reports."
—FELIX PFLAUM, DIRECTOR, PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT
Gaining industry experience
I am grateful for the opportunities that I had to stay connected to colleagues and to the firm during my time as an AlixAlumnus.
"I recently became an AlixPartners “'boomerang' employee as I have returned to work for the firm after spending two years in the automotive industry. Attending firm events, including AlixAlumni events, helped me to stay up-to-date on firm news and connected to my Paris office colleagues.
"When I was ready for the next step in my career, I looked back to AlixPartners to find the challenging yet fulfilling work that will push me forward in my professional journey."
—JEAN-NOEL TRUCHET, DIRECTOR, PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT, PARIS OFFICE
Flexible work opportunity
"I previously worked at various well-known firms as a forensic accountant. I was either assigned to client work by a Resource Manager who would match availability to project need or a lead partner who would pick team members based on their own references.
"I now have a new career as a Strategic Staffing Manager at AlixPartners and we have a very different approach. I take a rounded view of each consultant, working with them and project leaders to build appropriate project teams.
"It is not just a question of availability or favorites, it is about considering career goals, development needs and personal circumstances. I’m also in a unique position where I can work with our People Team to develop individual and collective training, which really supports an individual's progress. Having experienced what life can be like for aspiring professionals, I really believe that supporting our people in this way is an approach that makes a big difference in the long run."
