Mat is a professional economist with more than 30 years of experience. He has benefited clients by his engagement in a wide range of cases before the European Commission's Directorate-General for Competition, the Office of Fair Trading, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the Competition Appeal Tribunal, various specialist regulators—including the Financial Conduct Authority, Ofgem, the Office of Communications, the Office of Rail Regulation, and Ofwat—and a range of member states’ national competition and regulatory authorities, as well as in the context of disputes and litigation. Prior to joining AlixPartners, he was chief economist in the competition department at Ashurst LLP. He started his career as an economist at the Office of Fair Trading.
Mat has a master's degree in economics from Queen Mary's College.
